Isabella graduated in 2002 from the University of Milan, Italy. She was awarded a scholarship from the department of Medicine, University of Milan. Following this she was a Research Fellow at the Department Periodontology, Harvard School of Dental Medicine, then a MA Resident and teacher in the department of Periodontology, University of Milan, Italy. She is now affiliated with Department of Biomaterials, Institute for Clinical Sciences, The Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.

She is Chairman of the EAO (European Association for Osseointegration) Junior Committee, Member of the Osteology Expert Council of the Osteology Foundation, member of the Academy of Osseointegration and of the Italian Society of Periodontology.

In addition, she has authored several national and international peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters. She regularly lectures internationally, in particular on  implants, bone regeneration, soft tissue regeneration and tissue engineering.
