Shanon Patel

BDS, MSc, MClinDent, MFDS RCS, MRD RCS
Specialist in Endodontics

Shanon qualified from Guy's Hospital in 1995, and then studied at the Eastman Dental Institute (UCL) to train as a specialist Endodontist.

He now divides his time between working here at the practice, and teaching future Specialist Endodontists in the Endodontic Postgraduate Unit at KCL (Guy's Hospital), where he runs the Consultant’s clinic, teaches and supervises postgraduate Masters research projects. In 2005 Shanon was the first Endodontist in the UK to routinely using Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) in practice. In 2007, much to his wife's frustration he commenced a PhD assessing how CBCT may improve the management of patients requiring Endodontic treatment.

He has published several papers in peer reviewed scientific journals, written 2 book chapters, and has also co-authored 2 textbooks 'The Principles of Endodontics' (Oxford University Press), and Pitt Ford’s Problem-based learning in Endodontology (Blackwell-Wiley). He frequently lectures nationally and internationally on all aspects of Endodontics, and has served on the council of the British Endodontic Society.
