Cancer

November is Mouth Cancer Action Month, for more information please visit  The British Dental Health Foundation website and The Mouth Cancer Foundation website.

Oral cancer is a surprisingly common condition, accounting for approximately 4% of cancers. Screening for oral or facial cancer  is an important part of our routine. To give this some perspective, we rarely see new oral cancer in our patients, but every year we refer several patients with early facial lesions.

Oral cancer is a particular concern for patients who smoke, all the more so if there is also significant alcohol consumption.

We work with some of the best Maxillofacial, Ear Nose and Throat, and Plastic Surgeons and Dermatologists. We are  also highly active in reconstruction for patients who have had reconstructive surgery, providing implant support and prostheses for the teeth, jaws, eyes, ears, and nose. We have also designed custom made implants for patients requiring this sort of reconstruction.
