Periodontics

The periodontist offers a range of treatment depending on the needs of the patient. Our periodontal treatments are very often geared to pragmatic management of deteriotating conditions, to allow the referring practionner to progress towards successful reconstruction of the dental arch. The periodontist will often work closely with the referring dentist in these cases and an open line of communication is encouraged.

Once specialist treatment is completed, the patient will be asked to return to your practice to continue with an ongoing maintenance program. The dentist and hygienist will be informed of any particular problem areas to monitor. A yearly review with the periodontist will be necessary, in order monitor the more unpredictable sites.

However, yearly review may not always be necessary. This tends to happen in cases where there is an isolated problem that does not involve treatment of gum disease, such as gum repositioning for treatment of recession defects.

The practice will be happy to offer our hygienist service, if requested.
