On Friday 17th January 2014, Dawood and Tanner hosted their 4thStudy Day, and were delighted with the superb attendance, welcoming 110 colleagues to the British Dental Association Headquarters, Wimpole Street for an intense day of postgraduate education. Invited speakers, and speakers from the Dawood and Tanner’s team of specialists lectured on up to date topics, providing the audience with an extremely stimulating day.

We were privileged to host three eminent external speakers;

Dr Jo Omar, senior partner of Sedation Solutions, entertained us with ‘A history of anaesthetics and sedation in dentistry’, bringing us right up to date on guidelines and regulations of sedation in practice.

Dr Ana Angelova, research fellow at KCL, spoke on the exciting topic of ‘Future applications of Stem Cells in Dentistry’ – growing teeth and the use of stem cells from extracted teeth.

Professor Mark McGurk, Consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon, who has been working with Dawood & Tanner for many years, presented the state of the art in ‘Minimally invasive surgical management of salivary gland disease’.

‘In House’ presentations covered a broad range of current topics in dentistry.

Dr Shanon Patel spoke about how careful attention to detail can consistently achieve superb success rates in endodontic treatments in ‘Getting to the root of the problem’.

Dr Almas Husain, provided a refreshing insight into the ‘Devices and Desires’ of adult orthodontics.

Dr Susan Tanner discussed a broad range of implant cases, all with a particular focus on using careful planning and sophisticated technology to provide ‘Beautiful aesthetic results in full arch implant reconstruction’ with a minimum of time in surgery.

Dr Andrew Dawood specifically spoke about ‘Causes avoidance and management of peri-implantitis’

Mr Trevor Brooker, CDT, of Brooker and Partners, who leads the Dawood & Tanner’s in-house laboratory, spoke about exciting ‘New options in advanced dental implant restorative technology and CAD CAM’.
