Zygomatic implants for severe bone loss
Stable, long-term solutions without bone grafts
For many patients, the loss of their teeth marks the start of a more complex problem. As time goes on, the upper jawbone can shrink significantly, leaving too little bone to support standard dental implants.
Zygomatic implants are a reliable alternative in these cases. Instead of requiring bone grafting or prolonged treatment timelines, implants are anchored directly into the zygomatic bone (cheekbone) — one of the most robust bones in the facial skeleton. This approach makes it possible to deliver more than just a prosthetic — it provides a secure foundation for a natural-looking smile, with restored function and long-term comfort.

The zygomatic approach
Who can benefit from zygomatic Implants?
This advanced treatment is particularly well suited to patients with significant bone loss in the upper jaw — especially those who have been told they are not suitable for conventional implants— especially those who:
- Want a fixed alternative to dentures without undergoing years of grafting surgeries.
- Have previously had unsuccessful implant treatment due to severe bone loss.
How zygomatic implant surgery works
Although zygomatic implants are considerably longer than conventional implants, the treatment is very similar from the patient’s perspective:
- Placement of zygomatic implants is minimally invasive
- We use image-guided surgery to enhance precision
- Wide surgical exposure is not required
- The experience is designed to be as comfortable as possible
- Treatment is typically carried out under intravenous sedation
Comprehensive same-day implant treatment
Each zygomatic implant treatment is carefully planned according to the individual’s anatomy and degree of bone loss. We tailor the number and type of implants used to provide the optimal balance of stability, efficiency, and long-term success.
Depending on bone availability, this may involve combining one or two zygomatic implants with two to four conventional implants — or, in more severe cases, placing up to four zygomatic implants to support a fixed prosthesis.
In particularly challenging cases where the jaw is exceptionally damaged by advanced bone loss / destruction, we will design and make implants specifically for your particular situation.
This highly adaptable approach allows us to deliver predictable results, even in complex or previously untreatable cases.
