Professional teeth whitening in Central London
Teeth whitening is one of the most effective and conservative ways to improve your smile—often with visible results in just a short time. At Dawood & Tanner, we offer some of the best professional teeth whitening treatments in London, tailored to your goals and delivered with clinical precision and care.
Whether you choose our in-office teeth whitening for immediate results, or our dentist-supervised at-home whitening kit, all treatments are carried out or prescribed by GDC-registered dental professionals, ensuring both safety and outstanding results.
Both techniques use our comfortable custom laboratory made whitening trays to help keep the whitening gel in close contact with the teeth and not leak out and irritate the gums. The gels that we use also have the clever addition of an anti-sensitivity component which helps prevent the occurrence of sensitivity.

Is teeth whitening safe?
When performed under the supervision of a qualified dentist, teeth whitening is safe and effective. However, in recent years there has been a significant rise in non-professional teeth whitening—often offered in beauty salons or through unregulated online kits. These treatments are not only illegal if performed by non-dentists, but they can also result in permanent damage to your teeth and gums.
Under UK law, only a General Dental Council (GDC) registered dentist can prescribe and oversee whitening treatments. Choosing a qualified provider ensures that your smile is enhanced without compromising your long-term oral health.
Am I suitable for teeth whitening?
A dental check-up should ideally be within the past 4 months before teeth whitening. This allows for a thorough assessment of your oral health, including checking for any issues like cavities, gum disease, or weakened enamel that need to be addressed before whitening. Additionally, a cleaning may be recommended to remove plaque and tartar, which can interfere with the whitening process.
Precautions before whitening
For some patients whitening may not be appropriate if they have a lot of tooth wear – where the enamel of the teeth has been worn down leaving only the darker yellow looking dentine visible. Whitening will not work and can cause acute pain and sensitivity for the patient.
White spot treatment
Some of our patients have had white spots on their teeth, caused by tetracyclines or after having braces removed, that we can easily treat to reduce their appearance.
We use Microabrasion to remove superficial white spots (particularly those caused by Fluorosis) a technique of polishing the superficial enamel with acid and pumice can be used. This provides a conservative, immediate improvement in the appearance of the dentition.
