Shanon divides his time between Dawood & Tanner and as a Consultant Endodontist at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Trust. He is also a Professor at King’s College London Dental Institute (KCL).
He has been managing patients with a broad range of root canal problems at Dawood & Tanner for over 25 years. Patients are referred to him not only by dental and medical colleagues, but also by word-of-mouth from patients he has seen in the past. He is recognised internationally for his research which focuses on improving the longevity of root treated teeth. In complex cases, Shanon teams up with specialists/consultants in Periodontics, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, ENT, Oral & Maxillofacial surgery and/or Paediatric dentistry to ensure that patients get the best outcome in the minimum number of appointments.
Shanon also carries of research, the main areas of which reflect the clinical challenges faced by dentists, including: improving the longevity of teeth, root resorption, management of cracks in teeth and dental trauma. The goal of his research is to improve the accuracy of diagnosing and treatment root canal problems.
The impact of his translation, research and clinical excellence has led to him being invited as a keynote speaker at over 150 international meetings spanning 5 continents. Shanon is recognised internationally as a leading authority in several clinical areas of Endodontology and is reflected in him being lead author of several European Society of Endodontology position statements; CBCT imaging (2014,2019), root resorption (2023), fractured/cracked teeth (2025).
