I am so proud to be a founding partner of The Dawood and Tanner Specialist Dental Practice, passionate about dentistry and I enjoy every day of my work meeting our wonderful patients.
I qualified form University College Hospital and then took up positions at the Westminster Hospital in maxillofacial surgery, Guy’s Dental Hospital in conservative dentistry, children’s dentistry and orthodontics, and St Bartholomew’s Hospital providing prosthodontic treatments for patients within the maxillofacial department. This was followed by a Master’s Degree and acceptance onto the Specialist Register.
My Masters Degree in Prosthetic Dentistry from The Eastman Dental Hospital has formed a cohesive platform for the vast number of full arch and short span implant reconstructions I have carried out for referring colleagues and for patients of the practice over the years. Utilising the latest technology to plan and construct restorations, I work in close conjunction with implant surgeons and laboratory technicians.
As a specialist prosthodontist with over 25 years experience in the field of implant dentistry, I enjoy the collaborative restorative treatments I am able to provide for my patients. I have a particular interest in the implant rehabilitation of patients who have atrophic jaws, with the goal of providing immediate fixed reconstructions, even where there is extensive resorption .
I take great pleasure in teaching, lecturing regularly on prosthodontic aspects of implant dentistry in the UK and internationally, working with small groups or on a one to one mentoring basis at the practice, and helping the general dental practitioner to bring the benefits of implant treatments to their patients and their working life. As well as teaching courses for the Dawood and Tanner Academy, I champion the cause of implant dentistry amongst female dentists, and I am a founding member of the British Women’s Society for Implant Dentistry. www.bwsid.co.uk
As a past trustee I am an ardent supporter of the charity “Saving Faces”, The Facial Surgery Research Foundation, dedicated to supporting nationwide research into head and neck cancer and trauma surgery, prevention of oral diseases in the younger generation, and awareness of facial disfigurement.
I have enjoyed the challenges taking me away from clinical dentistry such as developing and producing Delicious Teeth Tooth Cleanser, designing dental surgeries, advising on the UK board of Nobel Biocare™ , and organising dental conferences such as our latest “10th Dawood & Tanner Study Day” attended by 130 clinicians.
In my spare time I am an enthusiastic cook, walker, reader, traveller and spend time with my grown up children, one of whom is studying to be a dentist!
