New research into retention after orthodontic treatment has encouraged the BOS to start a retention campaign to help people who have had braces, keep their teeth straight for as long as possible.

Previously, people have worn braces and used retainers for a short while afterwards. Dentists and orthodontists have seen more and more patients returning with retention.

This can be due to aging and teeth wanting to move back to their original place in the mouth.

The BOS would like to make patients aware of the risk of retention and help people to take preventative measures.
