Our clinicians at Dawood & Tanner explain how you can taking precautions to prevent damage to your teeth long term, during Christmas.

Alcohol and sweets cause cavities, staining and a build-up of plaque. Avoid these foods and drinks as much as possible and brush after consuming them.

Make sure you stay up to date with your check up’s especially in winter months.  People tend to visit the dentist less during the cold and darker months but check-ups are crucial for preventing dental problems.

Studies have revealed that eating too much at any one time can exasperate and cause acid reflux and heartburn. Constant acid reflux can give you constant bad breath, dry mouth, sore throat and enamel erosion causing tooth sensitivity.

Foods to avoid to reduce acid reflux: tomatoes, chocolate, red wine and coffee.
