After qualifying from Glasgow Dental Hospital and school, I moved to London . My career has and is constantly evolving. I began as a dental assistant in one of the oldest and most respected dental practices in London’s West End. Wanting a new challenge I then worked as a dental assistant and dental practice manager for 2 smaller practices. In 2000 I was approached by Dr. Andrew Dawood and Dr Susan Dawood to join their practice and was given 2 broad objectives; firstly to manage the practice on a day to day basis, and secondly to help Andrew and Susan develop the practice in to one of the best, most forward thinking and dynamic practices in the UK. In my 15 years at the practice, it has grown from a team of 8 to over 50 clinicians, technicians, dental assistants, IT staff and administrators-never a dull moment for me!
As well as running the practice and managing the clinical governance aspects of the practice I set up a 3D cone beam CT X ray imaging service in 2005-this was probably the first such unit of its kind in a dental practice in Europe. My varied experience has resulted in me being asked to become an examiner for the National Examiners Nursing Board and a committee member of the Implant Committee. My passion for teaching and mentoring has resulted in setting up the Dawood & Tanner Academy to help dental nurses fulfil their potential and educate them in various aspects of dentistry
To keep me out of mischief, I am completing a BSc; all going well I will graduate this summer.
I look forward to seeing you at our practice, and I am confident you will enjoy your journey with us.
